Jon Hamm and SkipTheDishes celebrate all things Canada

The return of the award-winning “Feed Your Entitlement” campaign launches today

WINNIPEG, MB – September 16, 2019 - SkipTheDishes’ popular and award-winning campaign featuring “honourary Canadian” Jon Hamm is back! Building on the relationship between Canadians and Skip (as Canada’s most-used food delivery app), the new creative stars Hamm doubling-down on his “Canadian-ness”, accompanied by his trusted assistant and confidante Brandon (played by actor/comedian Monty Geer).

“For us, this first commercial is a tribute to our Canadian roots,” says Kendall Bishop, Director of Marketing – Brand & Campaigns at SkipTheDishes. “Jon's comedic delivery leans into some of our most iconic Canadianisms while celebrating the relationship Skip has created with our customers as Canada’s most popular food delivery app.”

The campaign first launched in September 2018, landing a spot on YouTube Ad’s Leaderboard Canada Top 5 list. It helped support Skip’s continued growth across Canada, as they reported a year-over-year increase of 83 per cent in order volume and 79 percent revenue growth in the first half of 2019. The first series of the “Feed Your Entitlement” campaign won three Marketing Awards for Online Film Campaign (30 seconds & under), Online Film Single (30 seconds & under) and Television Campaign (30 seconds & under).

“It’s so rare for a brand in Canada to have such a well-known star in its campaign and we were just getting started last year. After years in the ad-world playing Don Draper on Mad Men, Jon as an entitled celebrity really resonated with our target,” said Jeff MacEachern, Chief Creative Officer at Arrivals + Departures. “This year we knew we needed to raise the bar from year one, which is why we’ve added unique content tailored to different platforms. We can’t wait to roll these out and build on last year’s success.”

The TV spot (which can be seen here LINK) will launch the new series, and will be accompanied by unique digital content in both :15 second and :06 lengths. The campaign was led by creative agency Arrivals + Departures and will debut on September 16th. It will also make an appearance on Global Canada during the premiere of both Survivor and the final season of Modern Family, as well as during the Big Brother finale. True Media handled the media planning and buying, and public relations support was provided by North Strategic.
